Breast cancer is one of the leading cancer killers of African American women. One out of eight women at some point in their lifetime are likely to get breast cancer. The latest statistics from the American Cancer Society state that African American women have a 46% higher mortality rate from breast cancer than any other ethnic group. We want to help make a difference in these statistics.
We will be hosting our 20th Sister to Sister Fitness Festival on October 2, 2021, at Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center, located at 310 East Parkerville Road, in Cedar Hill, Texas.
Chef Mary Lou Davis, season 19 finalist for Hell’s Kitchen, will be doing a cooking demo and preparing some special meals for selected breast cancer survivors. In honor of our 20th anniversary, we will be providing some special pink wishes to help some breast cancer survivors along their journey with cancer.
Mammograms at no charge for women without insurance given onsite from 9:00 AM until 3:30 PM. To qualify for a mammogram, you must be age 40, or older, with no breast implants and have no current breast problems. To schedule an appointment please contact: Methodist Health Connection at 214-933-7200.
The Celebrating Life Foundation is a non-profit organization devoted to making cancer powerless by educating, encouraging, and empowering the African American community, women of color, and the medically underserved about the risks of breast cancer.
This year we are partnering with the DeSoto Parks and Recreation, Alan E. Sims Cedar Hill Recreation Center, Charlton Methodist Hospital, KRNB Radio, WFAA, Circle GX and Texas Metro News to host an amazing health program for the Southern Sector of Dallas.
